AMAZON BLUENILE RECORDING
Amazon/Bluenile Recording is a Jamaican record production company that specializes in the production of roots and culture reggae music, and promoting some of Jamaica’s most talented new/rising artists.
Amazon/Bluenile was established in 1992, by Producer/songwriter, and sound system operator, Sean “Amazon” Woodhouse. The studio’s mandate were to produce uplifting roots and culture reggae music by utilizing Jamaica’s most conscious and talented new artists.
The studio released its first album in 1992, entitled WORLD OF AMAZON, which featured some Jamaica’s new artists at the time Suga Minott (Jah Never Fail I), Ricky Chaplin (Rebel for a cause), and Winston Hussey (Long, long stay). In that same year the studio also produced and released a number of single for the artists like WILLI WILLIAMS, LEROY SMART, MICKEY GENERAL, and HUGH GRIFFITS, to a name a few.
In 1994, the studio received its first international hit, NA FREN DEM UP, by Winston Hussey. However, by the end of 1994 to late 1999, the label seized operations, but was later re-launched in December 1999, after a major retooling and rebranding exercise was done. With its original mandate still at its forefront, Woodhouse and his Amazon/Bluenile label returned to producing high quality roots and culture reggae music, and promoting only the most talented new artist. And in 2002, the label released its second album, AMAZON MOODS Vol.1, and in 2004, released Vol.2 (a download version of both albums will be available December 2007).
In 2005 the Sean “Amazon” Woodhouse produced the critically acclaimed Miss Cassie riddim, which saw the likes of Mickey General, and Cedric Myton doing singles a number of singles featuring new and established artists was released by the label.
In 2006, the label added Artist Management to its operations hiring Clyde Grant as Manager, and officially signing six artists to the label. In February of the same year, the label launched its eagerly anticipated Miss Cassie riddim album, Miss Cassie All Stars Vol.1 which is available through CD Baby and Phantom/Super D Distribution, and all major online music stores world wide.
The label plans to continue its efforts of producing enjoyable music and promoting the most talented new artists. 2007 will see the release of a new compilation album entitled AMAZON REBEL and a solo album from the label’s producer, Sean ‘Amazon” Woodhouse, entitled AMAZON RAW.
The label plans to release solo albums for Fire Blazer, Dr. Cabull Bird, and Bogwalk. And an instrumental/Dub wise album by Sean “Amazon” Woodhouse.
